Difference between GRE and FRP pipes

Glass Reinforced Plastics, or GRP, is a composite made from glassfibers using either polyester, vinyl, or epoxy resins as the polymers. GRE, which is Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy Pipe, is used in industrial applications because GRE can resist higher temperatures compared to GRP pipes. High-strength glassfibers and epoxy resins with amine preservation treated under an intermittent winding procedure are equipment used for GRE pipes. 

The primary difference between GRE and GRP is the resin used to bond the glass fibers. Because of matrix material differences, we have the GRE, some are called GRP, matrix material is usually a resin, reinforcing material is the glass fiber, other raw materials are added during production to get the best. Naturally, glass is the material used the most for reinforcing fibers. The fibers used in the reinforcement of DEFI products are usually glass. 

Due to the unique features of FRP/GRP/GRE pipe specification in terms of heat and chemical resistance, and high mechanical properties, FRP/GRP/GRE pipes are used for water, oil, industry, and marine water pipelines in both pressure and gravity flow. These pipes are employed in different applications like wastewater treatment plants, seawater intakes, and returns at energy plants worldwide. GRP is used in ballast water pipes, while GRE is used in seawater pipes. GRP pipes are made from either a vinyl ester resin, or unsaturated polyester, pieces of glass fiber, and reinforcing agents.

GRP pipes are gaining popularity and attention in recent years from shipbuilding and specialty ships like tankers, chemical carriers, offshore platforms, etc. The ballast systems for ships are being used at foreign ships, using GRE pipes and accessories, which has advantages aside from the conductivity electrostatic, and also has many advantages, e.g., light, typically of equal dimensions, GRE pipes are just 35% the weight of a carbon steel tube. 

Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) is made up of matrix material and reinforcing materials, GRE is different due to its underlying materials used.
